ADOPTION FEES - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

$150 for Unaltered Dog
$75 for Unaltered Cat

includes a basic check from our veterinarian, vaccinations, de-worming, spay/neuter, rabies and heart worm testing for dogs only, and a city tag for your dog if applicable

If you feel that you are a match with one of our animals and commit to the adoption, you must pay the adoption fee in full. We will schedule the spay/neuter appointment with our local vet, transport the animal and you will be notified when the animal is ready for pickup from the vet. If the basic check includes additional recommendations of treatment, it will be your responsibility to cover the charges. If your new pet is not of age for a spay/neuter, your application will be note the date which your pet should be altered. If you live out of town and want to bring the animal back for the spay/neuter, you may make arrangements with us for an appointment with our local veterinarian. If you do not want to make arrangements, you will be responsible for the additional costs of a spay/neuter with your own veterinarian. The adoption fee does not change in either circumstance. A citation may be issued if you are not in compliance with the spay/neuter statute by the date listed on your application.

Listed below is the Kansas Statute:

Kansas Statute 47-1731, Chapter 47, Article 17 - Pet Animal Act - Dogs and Cats, spaying and neutering required when (a) No dog or cat may be transferred to the permanent custody of a prospective owner by a pound or animal shelter, as defined by K.S.A. 47-1701 and amendments thereto, or by a humane society, unless: (1) such dog or cat has been surgically spayed or neutered before the physical transfer of the animal occurs.

$75 for Spayed/Neutered Dog
$40 for Spayed/Neutered Cat

We do not place "holds" on any animals. We are a first come first serve facility. The animal you select will go home with you the same day you adopt if already altered. Please bring a leash for a dog, or a pet taxi for a cat as we do not furnish either.

CONCORDIA RESIDENTS ONLY A current certificate of rabies immunization is a prerequisite for purchasing city tags for your dog, All licensed veterinarian certificates are recognized. Please contact City Hall for more questions and information 785-243-2670.
